Filmul are la baza romanul autobiografic al lui Jim Carroll si ilustreaza incercarile acestuia de a depasi dependenta de droguri.
In rolul principal ..Leonardo di Caprio (un actor foarte bun si pot sa argumentez prin exemplul filmelor facute in adolescenta gen What's Eating Gilbert Grape si Total Eclipse..dar si in cele recente joaca bine ).
El face parte dintr-o gasca de baieti oarecum asemanatoare din punctul meu de vedere cu cea din Sleepers .
